Use NANO to edit the CRON table

Have you ever gone to edit the CRON table of linux, you have appeared the little intimate VIM and have said … “And now what?”, Do not fear, use nano that is very simple and you can edit the table without problems.

To use NANO to edit cron table we have to change the environment variable ‘VISUAL’ to ‘nano’, you can change it with the export command, which is used to change the linux global variables:

Use NANO to edit

If we want to use NANO to edit CRON table as visual editor by default we will have to do the following:

export VISUAL=nano; crontab -e

Use VIM to edit

On the other hand, if we want to use VIM, we will write the following

export VISUAL=vim; crontab -e

Once we put the command in the terminal, we will not have to worry anymore. Remember that you need to have the corresponding editor installed to work properly.
